Library Visits

PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAMS

Dr. Becker has presented many programs at public libraries with a wide variety of program themes. His “Wild About Reading” program works well in a library setting, as does his “Wildlife Heroes” and “Amazon Adventure” programs. Library programs are generally forty-five minutes to an hour in length, and can be scheduled throughout the year. During a library program, Dr. Becker engages the audience with storytelling and lively interaction with those in attendance. He uses video of his field experiences around the world, and after the formal program, he is happy to spend some one-on-one time during the book signing session.

COMMENTS FROM LIBRARIANS

We just had a wonderful author visit, Dr. John Becker, for a kids program at the Grandview Heights Public Library. He was very easy to work with, kind, engaging and great with the kids. He was very patient about staying after the presentation to sign books for the patrons and took pictures with the kids. Dr. Becker is local and used to work with Jack Hanna at the zoo and has helped with wild cat conservation organizations. He has written many books including Frenemies for Life, Wild Cats, and Mugambi’s Journey. He talks with the kids about his journeys and shows video clips of his trips to Africa and the Amazon rainforest.“

His website is https://www.johnbeckerauthor.com. I highly recommend him!”

”Your program was a big hit to all those in attendance. The adults were very interested in your experiences, as well as the children. You were talked about for weeks afterwards. Your stories captured everyone’s attention and made them aware of the growing problem of extinction. You showed them how books are able to help the animals’ cause. You just never know – maybe one of those children will grow up to help save animals just like you! As the public library’s children’s librarian, I have scheduled and held many programs with a variety of talents and topics. But I want you to know that, from both a professional and personal standpoint, your program was truly one of the most interesting. I’m sure they will recognize your name if they ever run across it when reading a nonfiction animal book.

Thank you, again, for traveling to our community. I enjoyed working with you and hope we can work together in the future!”

“Pataskala Public Library was privileged to host a visit from author John Becker. John presented to 90 children and their parents. The children were totally enthralled with the story of Mugambi, the young cheetah. It was quickly apparent that John was a master storyteller and a master teacher. He interacted with the children effortlessly, asking questions and extracting very enthusiastic responses. John brought with him video excerpts of an actual safari on which he had gone. He narrated the video with amusing anecdotes, which, again, kept the children totally tuned in with the program. I would highly recommend John Becker to appear at library programs. His programs are very family friendly and entertaining.“

“Dr. John Becker presents a colorful, informative and entertaining program. He has done his HOMEWORK and presents this information in an enticing manner. There were children from early childhood ages to adults present at his program and all were enthralled.”
